5. Swedish Gambling Authority's regulations and general advice on restrictions and bans on certain betting to counteract manipulation of results (including match-fixing) in sports and reporting of suspected manipulation

6. The regulations apply to betting on sports performed in Sweden for those who are licensed to provide betting in accordance with Chapter 8 of the Gambling Act (2018:1138).

8. The regulations contain a ban on betting on individual rule violations and on betting on the individual performance of minors. The regulations contain restrictions on betting on football. Betting may only be provided on the four highest leagues in the Swedish league system, matches between teams at international club level where the teams participating are part of one of the four highest league levels in each country, matches in the Swedish Cup where the teams are part of one of the four highest league levels in the Swedish league system, and matches where national U21 teams up to national A teams participate. Betting on training or friendly matches in football must not be offered in cases other than matches where national U21 teams up to national A teams participate. The regulations also contain a provision that licence holders must send a report to the Swedish Gambling Authority regarding the previous year's registered suspicious manipulations of sports results on which bets are made by no later than 31 March each year.

The regulations are expected to enter into force on 19 October 2020.

The aim of the proposals is partly to counteract the incidental risk of manipulation of results by banning and limiting the availability of betting on individual performances and on football, as football is particularly exposed to manipulation, and partly to strengthen the protection of minors via the ban on the provision of betting on a minor's individual performance and also to provide the Swedish Gambling Authority with a basis for monitoring, etc.

The regulations only apply to betting on sports performed in Sweden for those who are licensed to provide betting under the Gambling Act (2018:1138).
