6. The RVS is to be used for the planning, measurement and execution of foundations for rockfall protection nets with a planned period of use of more than 30 years in the field of technical protection against natural hazards.

9. The need for the creation of a new RVS is to establish specifications for the planning, measurement and execution of the foundations for rockfall protection nets and, based on this, to obtain approval in the form of a declaration of conformity.

The foundation of rockfall protection nets consists of a coupled system between micropile and pile head connection to which the guy ropes of the rockfall protection nets are attached, as well as a foundation that is anchored in the ground with tension and compression piles. The current standards and the existing approvals for these micropiles only take into account static loads or cannot be used sufficiently. However, the effects of natural hazard events occur primarily in a sudden and forceful manner.

For the above-mentioned reasons it is necessary to establish appropriate specifications for the measurement and execution of these anchoring systems and to ensure compliance with them by means of product approval. This will increase the reliability of these anchoring systems as well as the technical and legal safety of the installations. Furthermore, the RVS enables innovations to be created in the field of foundations.
