6. General requirements for the construction of reinforced soil and anchored earth structures. The notification includes both the general specification and the works specific requirements which are prefixed by SI and determined on a project basis

8. The specification for highway works is the basis of the contract documentation used by the Department for Infrastructure (NI) for new highway construction works and maintenance on the UK Strategic Trunk Road Network.

This document sets out the needs of the Overseeing Organisation with respect to the overarching aspects of the specification, product certification and records

9. The use of these documents is mandatory for all roads, including motorways, in Northern Ireland. Other UK Overseeing Departments incorporate certain amendments to take account of local conditions.

This document will replace the existing requirements in Northern Ireland and ensure best practice in road and bridge construction while complying with all relevant EU Directives, as well as ensuring the appropriate levels of governance for the highway authority.
