6. Marking of cats with microchips and registration in the database of the register of domestic (pet) animals

It is the duty of the owner or keeper of animals to ensure that cats and domestic ferrets are marked with a microchip in accordance with the procedures stipulated by the Cabinet, that they have a pet passport, and that they are registered in the database of the register of domestic (pet) animals, except in cases where the Cabinet has determined that the provision of the aforementioned requirements is not mandatory.

9. The obligation to microchip and register cats and ferrets in the database of the register of domestic (pet) animals is established:
1) To limit the number of stray cats;
2) for the the state and municipal police to ensure public order and
public security, to respond to cases of cruelty to animals;
3) to facilitate the search and finding of the animal by the owner, if it has
disappeared.
The Cabinet shall determine exceptions, when there is no obligation to mark and register cats and ferrets to allow a reasonable transitional period in relation to those cats and ferrets that were born before the day of coming into force of amendments to Section 59 of the Veterinary Medicine Law.
