5. This draft Decree-Law regulates Article 321 of Law No 75-B/2020 of 31 December on the 2021 State Budget Law.

6. The products covered by this notification shall be: cosmetic products, personal hygiene products, detergents and cleaning products containing plastic microspheres consisting of synthetic particles of less than 5 mm in diameter.

8. This draft legislation prohibits the placing on the market of cosmetic products, hygiene products, detergents and cleaning products containing plastic microspheres consisting of synthetic particles of less than 5 millimetres in diameter.

9. The present draft legislation stems from Article 321 of the State Budget Law, which is aimed at a very specific set of products for which there is no provision for a ban on placing on the market, but rather the replacement of some of its components with alternatives identified and recognised as having less significant impacts on the environment.
