5. TECHNICAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR ROAD MARKINGS, REFERENCE NUMBER AND 616-2022
6. Technical instructions apply to motorways, express roads, European national roads (E), main national roads, secondary national roads, county roads, municipal roads and streets.

8. The technical instructions contain the mandatory conditions for the construction of road markings in accordance with the provisions of the legislation in force concerning traffic on public roads. They cover the types of materials used to make the markings, the technology for making the markings, the making of the markings, the quality control of materials and road markings, the acceptance of the marking work on completion/expiry of the guarantee period.

9. It was necessary to revise the regulation “Technical instructions for road markings” in order to:
‑ update and specify the "Reference Documents" referred to in the technical regulation;
- correlate certain provisions of the technical regulation with other legislation and regulatory acts in the field of road transport infrastructure;
- increase road safety of road users by incorporating new technical solutions in the instructions as a result of technical and technological progress in recent years;
- apply the provisions of Regulation (EU) No 305/2011 of the European Parliament and of the Council transposed into national law by Government Decision No 668/2017 laying down the conditions for the marketing of construction products.
