6. Technical requirements for structures (including fire protection, safety, etc.)

8. The parts of this Regulation subject to notification essentially contain provisions concerning the following content:
a) mechanical strength and stability (Annexes 3 and 4);
b) fire protection (Annexes 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9),
c) hygiene, health and environmental protection (Annex 10);
d) safety of use and accessibility (Annex 11);
e) sound insulation (Annex 12),
f) energy saving and thermal insulation (Annexes 13 and 14).

Pursuant to Section 122 of the Bauordnung für Wien (Building Code for Vienna, hereinafter “BO”), it is determined, by way of a regulation of the provincial government, under which conditions the structural provisions contained in Part 9 of this legislation are deemed as having been complied with. The provincial government is also entitled by virtue of Section 118(5) BO to enact an ordinance containing more detailed provisions regarding the content and the form of the energy certificate. On the basis of this delegated legislation, the Wiener Bautechnikverordnung (Vienna Building Technology Ordinance, hereinafter WBTV), Vienna Provincial Law Gazette No 31/2008, which contains in its annexes the technical guidelines issued by the Austrian Institute of Construction Technology (OIB), is enacted.

On 23 May 2023, the General Assembly of the OIB adopted a new edition of the aforementioned guidelines.

The WBTV 2023 contains the guidelines of the OIB in the 2023 edition as annexes.
