8. The draft Regulation sets out methods for testing the quality of liquid fuels, i.e. petrol and diesel.
The draft has been developed on the basis of the test methods specified in the following standards:
- PN-EN 228+A1:2017-06 Automotive fuels - Unleaded petrol - Requirements and test methods, and
- PN-EN 590:2022-08 Automotive fuels--Diesel--Requirements and test methods.
The Regulation is necessary to determine the quality of liquid fuel samples taken by the Trade Inspection as part of a system for monitoring and controlling the quality of liquid fuels in Poland. Testing laboratories conducting quality tests shall rely on the test methods set out in this Regulation.

The Regulation of the Minister for Economy of 25 March 2010 on methods of testing the quality of liquid fuels (Journal of Laws of 2017, item 247) has been developed on the basis of the following standards: - PN-EN 228:2013-04 Automotive fuels - Unleaded petrol - Requirements and test methods, and
- PN-EN 590:2013-12 Automotive fuels--Diesel--Requirements and test methods.
The draft new Regulation shall replace the current Regulation of the Minister for Economy and shall adapt the methods of testing the quality of liquid fuels to the latest editions of the above-mentioned standards, i.e. PN-EN 228+A1:2017-06 and PN-EN 590:2022-08.
In relation to the current Regulation, the draft Regulation shall introduce, among others, changes in the quality testing methods for diesel parameters: cetane number, oxidative stability, fractional composition, viscosity, flash point, turbidity point and for fractional composition parameter in petrol.
