5. RVS 08.18.01 Technical contract conditions, paving work, kerb edging, block pavings and slab surfaces, edgings
6. This RVS applies to the production of paving stone and paving slab surfaces as well as edging made of natural or artificial stone material in public, commercial and private areas. This also includes constructively permeable paving.

Preliminary remarks, scope of application, definitions, general, building materials, principles for design and execution, execution, care and maintenance, repair after excavation work, testing, acceptance, extent and billing, warranty, guidelines and standards cited, additional guidelines and literature to be observed
9. The current RVS was published in 2020. As part of an evaluation in August 2022, the need for a revision was identified, in particular because rapid (further) developments can be observed in this area. For relevant aspects of paving work, current research results are available on topics that - due to lack of scientific basis - could not previously be sufficiently taken into account (e.g. accessibility). In addition, practical experience from a large number of construction activities has shown that there is a need for changes in certain areas of planning, tendering and execution. This concerns, inter alia, the current formulations for paving drain concrete, concrete building blocks with spacers etc.
Structurally permeable paving slabs and paving slabs with green joints are not currently by the RVS. This topic will have to be addressed and regulated with regard to developments in heavy rainfall events and discussions on environmental aspects in the construction of surface pavements.
The above-mentioned aspects and the latest experience will be incorporated into the revision, so that the present RVS reflects the state of the art.
