The interface description (SSB) regulates the essential requirements for emergency radio equipment for the coordination and homing in of search and rescue services (121.5 MHz and 123.1 MHz) and the maritime emergency position-indicating beacons (406 MHz, EPIRBs) in accordance with § 4(2) of the Act on the provision of radio equipment on the market (Radio Equipment Act - FuAG).
This SSB replaces SSB SE 019, July 2016 edition, notified under No. 2016/0165/D.
9. The interface specification serves to ensure both that the radio spectrum is used effectively and that there is support for the efficient use of radio frequencies, so that no radio interference occurs. The interface specification is mandatory pursuant to Directive 2014/53/EU.
