8. The interface specification (SSB) regulates the basic requirements for search and rescue transmitters for maritime rescue – Radar-SART – (not AIS SART) in accordance with Section 4 Paragraph 2 of the Act on the placing of radio equipment on the market (Radio Equipment Act - FuAG).

This interface specification replaces SSB OR 015, of September 2013, notified under No 2013/0657/D.

9. The interface specification serves to ensure both that the radio spectrum is used effectively and that there is support for the efficient use of radio frequencies, so that no radio interference occurs. The interface specification is mandatory pursuant to Directive 2014/53/EU.
