8. The regulations update the national rules for hang gliding and adapt the rules to technological developments in the sport.

The Draft Regulations contain a mutual recognition clause.

9. Update the rules for paragliding, as they largely date from the 1980s and references to other regulations are, to a large extent, obsolete. There have been major technological developments in this area, which also necessitate an update of the rules.
