6. Information sheet for winter service vehicles

8. For the purposes of this information sheet, winter service vehicles are defined as all vehicles fitted with either permanently mounted or interchangeable attachments or superstructure for clearance and/or gritting operations. Attachments (including mounted equipment or superstructure) for clearing operations within the meaning of this information sheet are clearing blades and rotating clearing devices (snow blowers and, where applicable, sweepers or similar equipment).
Winter service vehicles are to be regarded as special-purpose vehicles in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2018/858. The information sheet should be regarded as an alternative requirement imposed by the EU Member State, although this applies only to the specific areas of building regulations mentioned here. In addition to warning flags, type-approved light bars are now also permitted; these must be suitable for use on snow ploughs.

9. The information sheet has been revised for adaptation to technical progress.

9a. The general interest is the recognisability of the winter service vehicles for other road users. The improved recognisability (adaptation to technical progress) will increase road safety.

9b. The previous warning flags are poorly visible at night and often break off or are lost. Therefore, additional optional light bars are allowed as an alternative.

9c. The information sheet has been revised at the request of the operators of such winter-service vehicles and is proportionate.
