6. Aggregates or excavated land for use on or in soil.

8. The draft contains a component on the traceability and use of aggregates and a component in relation to the traceability and use of excavated land. Both components require aggregates and excavated land to be used as backfills in or on soil to meet certain quality standards. See Articles 4.8.7 and 4.9.2 et seq.

9. Excavated land and aggregates are likely to be highly polluted. In order not to transfer this pollution to other places via backfills, it is necessary to provide for a traceability system to track their origin and to guarantee the quality of what is put on or in the soil so as not to introduce new pollution in the soil.
