Amendment to the recently adopted regulations TSFS 2023:36 on journeys with wide indivisible loads, which contain provisions allowing journeys on non-private roads with wide indivisible loads despite the provisions laid down in Chapter 4, Section 15 of the Road Traffic Ordinance (1998:1276). In addition to a linguistic amendment and consequential amendment to the transitional provisions, an addition has also been made to § 10, allowing signs to be both E-marked in accordance with ECE Regulation 104 and ECE Regulation 150 instead of just 104c.

The draft does not contain any provisions that would make a clause relevant.

The draft concerns Council Directive 96/53/EC but does not go beyond the obligations arising from that Directive.

9. Class C materials are not intended to be used for entire vehicle signs, but primarily to mark the outer contours of heavy goods vehicles and lorry trailers by means of retro-reflective strips. In practice, it is possible to manufacture vehicle signs with strips according to ECE Regulation 104 Class C, but this entails extensive manual work for the sign manufacturer.

ECE Regulation 104 has been replaced to some extent by ECE Regulation 150, which will eventually replace Regulation 104 completely. Today, it is not possible to get new retro-reflective materials type-approved under Regulation 104. In the long term, this may mean that it is not possible to manufacture signs that meet the marking requirements under ECE Regulation 104 Class C.

The amendment ensures that appropriate signs will be available that are compatible with the regulations in force for marking wide loads on vehicles and vehicle combinations.
