The present ordinance contains, inter alia, provisions on increased sharing of information where there is any suspicion of manipulation of sports events with regard to betting, so-called match-fixing, and where there is any suspicion that a person has participated in betting in violation of the sport's rules on match fixing, as well as a requirement for licence holders with a licence for betting to specify in their procedures the extent to which they participate in an international exchange of information on suspected match fixing.

9. The Swedish gambling market was reregulated on 1 January 2019, when the new Gambling Act entered into force. The reregulation was made to regain control of the gambling market and to strengthen channelling to offers from responsible, reliable and verifiable operators. Greater state control was judged to create better conditions for a high level of consumer protection (Bill 2017/18:220 pp. 82, 86, 89-91, 208 and 211). In the context of the reregulation, it was also made punishable to exert undue action to influence the outcome of a game subject to licence requirements (same Bill p. 225). The current regulations aim to increase the protection of players and to counter the incidence of match fixing by, inter alia, an increased exchange of information in the fight against match fixing.
