5. Airworthiness requirements for hang-gliders and paragliders (LTF HG/GS)

6. Airworthiness requirements (airworthiness code) apply to hang-gliders and paragliders.

8. The airworthiness code (airworthiness code) define the requirements for air sports equipment (aircraft according to § 1(2) no. 10 Aviation Act (LuftVG)) of the type hang-gliders and paragliders. The application of this construction provision is laid down in § 11 of the Ordinance for the Testing of Aircraft Equipment (LuftGerPV) in conjunction with Section 1(2)(3) of the Second Implementing Ordinance for the Testing of Aircraft Equipment (2. DV LuftGerPV).

The aim of the specifications in the airworthiness requirements in Germany is to ensure that the use of the hang-gliders and paragliders is safe for the intended purpose and that the safety of air transport and public safety and order are not jeopardised.

9. The design of the airworthiness requirements for hang-gliders and paragliders (LTF HG/GS) is intended to further develop the edition of the LTF HG/GS of 1 September 2020. In some chapters, adaptations have been made to the state of the art and references to standards have been updated. For example:
- Section 4.1.6. adds a new requirement for an additional fuse system to prevent starting with unfastened harnesses.
Section 5.1 waives a detailed requirement in favour of a reference to the standard DIN EN 1651:2022-02 (EN 1651:2018+A1:2020) identical in content.
