9. The activites of betting operators are currently regulated by the Act of 4 July 2019 on the Activities of Betting Operators (Tyrolean Betting Operators Act), LGBl. No. 98/2019, last amended by LGBl. No. 85/2023.
In the light of the rapid technological developments in the field of betting and the new opportunities for betting operators, it is necessary to adapt the existing rules for the exercise of activities as a betting operator to technical progress, especially with regard to improved protection of betting customers and children and young people. In order to ensure, inter alia, that no participation in prohibited bets can take place via betting terminals, access requirements such as a customer card must also be newly regulated. In addition, the experience of recent years has shown that the control and monitoring powers of the authorities in the field of betting need to be adapted and the responsibilities of betting operators or their agents need to be specified.
