8. The Design code for structures in reinforced concrete frames, reference number NP 007-2025, applies to the design of structures in reinforced concrete frames for new buildings. The Design code NP 007-2025 includes provisions related to the design of buildings with structures in reinforced concrete frames, specific to the quality requirement "mechanical resistance and stability", established by Law No 10/1995 on quality in construction, republished, with subsequent amendments and additions, namely basic requirements, performance requirements and prescriptive requirements for the design of structures in reinforced concrete frames. The provisions of the technical regulation also apply to the design of intervention works on existing constructions, carried out to reduce the susceptibility of damage to various types of actions, which include the use of reinforced concrete frames. The design rules given in the technical regulation apply to the design of beams, columns, beam-column joints, infrastructures, and floors serving as horizontal diaphragms in reinforced concrete frame structures, which are not equipped with seismic devices, within the meaning of technical regulation P 100-1. The structure of the technical regulation NP 007 is the following: 1. General, 2. Basic requirements, 3. Seismic design, 4. Effort design values, 5. Resistance capacity, 6. Composition and reinforcement, 7. Precast structures Chapters 1 to 7 have a regulatory nature. The minimum quality requirements for constructions established by the technical regulation shall be ensured throughout the lifetime of the building. The Design code NP 007 shall be used in conjunction with the other technical regulations in construction.

The revision of the code in force, NP 007-1997, took into account the alignment with current technical practice and the provisions of the new series of structural Eurocodes in the design of construction structures, to ensure a unitary and coherent regulatory framework, including alignment with the provisions of related technical regulations, namely the Design code for constructions with reinforced concrete structural walls, reference number CR 2-1-1.1/2022, and the revised version of the Design code P 100-1. The current technical regulation, NP-007, could no longer be used de facto due to the repeated changes in related normative documents that have occurred since its publication in 1996, particularly the seismic design code, reference number P100-1.
