8. In relation to the current regulations, it is proposed, inter alia:
− that the minimum quantity of fruit to be used in the production of jams, marmalades and jellies, as a general rule, is increased from 350 grams of fruit to 450 grams of fruit per 1,000 grams;
− that the use of concentrated juice as an ingredient is permitted, and that a reference to food additives authorised under Regulation (EC) No 1333/2008 is added to the list of permitted ingredients;
− that the designation ‘citrus marmalade made from [for example, orange]’ may be used (besides that only the word citrus may be replaced with the fruit included, for example, ‘orange marmalade’),
- that the special provisions relating, on the one hand, to the labelling of sugar content and sulphur dioxide content and, on the other hand, to the sulphur dioxide content in raw ingredients, are removed.

Implementation of Directive (EU) 2024/1438 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the amendment of Directive 2001/110/EC of the Council relating to honey, 2001/112/EC on fruit juices and certain similar products for human consumption, 2001/113/EC on jams, jellies and marmalades, as well as sweetened chestnut purées for human consumption, and 2001/114/EC on preserved,
partly or wholly dehydrated milk for human consumption.
