8. The regulations as a whole concern roadworthiness testing, but the current amendment only contains proposals to remove rules requiring inspection of the eCall system.

The regulations on eCall have not been notified previously, but the basic regulation was notified under 2016/0689/S.

In the absence of a mutual recognition clause, please justify why:
These regulatory amendments only cover changes that mean that the eCall system does not need to be inspected by inspection bodies, as the conditions for carrying out such an inspection are not met.

9. In Sweden, the 2G and 3G networks will be shut down in 2026 and 2027, which may mean that the eCall system will not communicate and alert in case of an emergency. Currently, inspection bodies are required to inspect the eCall system, among other things, which does not work without a network.

The individual then runs the risk of having a failed inspection when checking the eCall system, without being able to take any action to avoid this.

The purpose of the proposal is therefore to remove the requirement for eCall inspection so that the individual is not affected in this way.
