The main content is that amusement park rides provided to the public must, as a general rule, meet the requirements of the European standard SS-EN 13814:2019 ‘Safety of amusement rides and amusement devices’ or meet equivalent safety requirements. In some cases and for some parts, an older standard may be applied instead.

The proposed regulations represent an update of the regulations currently in force, which refer to older standards.

9. The purpose is to ensure that amusement park rides made available to the public provide adequate protection against accidents, i.e. protecting human life and health. The provisions have been designed to be proportionate to this purpose.
