5. Draft Decree amending Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development Decree No 152/2009 of 12 November 2009 on the mandatory requirements of the Codex Alimentarius Hungaricus

6. Smoked ground paprika regulation

8. Currently ‘smoked ground paprika’ and its quality parameters are not defined in either Hungarian food legislation or EU legislation. An increase in consumer needs has made the creation of independent regulations for these products a necessity.
The draft regulation guarantees that smoked ground paprika products meet high quality standards.

9. Changed eating habits (the consumption of meals containing no paprika or a smaller amounts of paprika in lieu of meals made with paprika) have resulted in a decrease in demand for traditional ground paprika. At the same time, there is an increasing demand for smoked ground paprika.
The Codex Alimentarius Hungaricus has been supplemented by the draft with a new regulation so that these products may be produced to the high quality known by consumers.
In addition to general provisions and definitions, the draft defines quality parameters, requirements relating to marking and inspection methods.
