8. The Technical Guideline is directed at gaming machine manufacturers that apply to the Federal German Institute of Physical Sciences and Engineering for a type approval. It shall apply to gaming machines in accordance with § 33c of the Industrial Code and shall assist in execution of the type test and approval. The Guideline describes in particular the application and test procedures and outlines the technical requirements laid down in the Gaming Ordinance. The previously applicable Technical Guideline (cf. Notification No 2008/576/D) must be adapted in line with the new stipulations under the Gaming Ordinance (Sixth Ordinance amending the Gaming Ordinance, cf. Notification Nos 2013/149/D and 2014/289/D).

9. The Federal German Institute of Physical Sciences and Engineering is entitled to enact a technical guideline regarding execution of the type approval procedure. In this way, the transparency and traceability of the approval procedure is guaranteed, while the manufacturers of gaming machines can optimally prepare themselves for the procedure.

15. The Guideline merely specifies the requirements prescribed by the Gaming Ordinance (cf. Notification No 2013/149/D, impact assessment on p. 20).
