5. Royal Decree laying down the conditions for the placing on the market of portable and transportable CO2 metres for monitoring indoor air quality.

6. Devices for measuring the concentration of CO2 in closed spaces accessible to the public.

8. The draft Royal Decree is:

- adopted within the framework of the Product Standard Act (Act of 21/12/1998) which makes it possible to determine, inter alia, the conditions for placing the products on the market.

- aims, on the one hand, to lay down conditions for placing devices for measuring the concentration of CO2 on the Belgian market and, on the other hand, aims at the use of those devices for measuring the concentration of CO2 in closed spaces accessible to the public.

9. The measurement of indoor air quality and in particular of the CO2 concentration makes it possible to estimate the quality of ventilation in closed spaces, and in this case closed spaces accessible to the public.

Having indoor air quality measuring devices available on the market and for sale to consumers is therefore a necessity to assess whether ventilation air flows are sufficient for those present in the spaces concerned.

In an indoor air quality context, measuring indoor air quality is therefore an essential step for decision-making and for the purposes of providing information.
The quality standards and norms used to lay down conditions for the placing on the market of CO2 metres are a guarantee for consumers and those responsible for ventilation in the spaces concerned.
