5. Decree of the Ministry of Transport of the Slovak Republic amending Decree No 134/2018 laying down details of the operation of vehicles in road traffic, as amended

6. Operation of vehicles and of their systems, components and separate technical units in road traffic.

The draft Decree amends Decree No 134/2018 of the Ministry of Transport and Construction of the Slovak Republic laying down details of the operation of vehicles in road traffic, as amended by Decree No 308/2019, Decree No 499/2019 and Decree No 21/2023, notified under Directive (EU) 2015/1535 under notification number 2017/0599/SK, notification number 2019/144/SK, notification number 2019/448/SK and notification number 2022/0677/SK.
The draft Decree
a) makes adjustments concerning the fulfilment of certain technical requirements for electronically power assisted cycles (EPAC) not belonging to category L, scooters with auxiliary motor and self-balancing vehicles;
b) makes adjustments based on practice;
c) brings the requirements relating to escort vehicles for the transport of overweight and oversized loads into line with the technical conditions for authorising special road use; and
d) makes adjustments resulting from the corrigendum to Council Directive 96/53/EC (OJ L 2023/90115, 20.11.2023);
e) corrects references to current technical standards;
f) stipulates the dimensions and weights for tri-articulated buses, which are not covered by Council Directive 96/53/EC.

9. Decree of the Ministry of Transport and Construction of the Slovak Republic No 134/2018 laying down the details of the operation of vehicles in road traffic, as amended, lays down comprehensive conditions for the operation of vehicles in road traffic.
The draft Decree stipulates the following:
- electronically power assisted cycles (EPAC) will have to bear a data plate pursuant to EN 15194;
- scooters with an auxiliary motor and self-balancing vehicles will have to comply with EN 17128;
- rules for escort vehicles for transport of over-limit loads;
- dimensions and weights for tri-articulated buses, as there is a requirement in Slovakia to use such buses in road traffic.
