The draft Decree amending Decree No 152/2009 of 12 November of the Ministry for Agriculture and Rural Development on the mandatory requirements of the Codex Alimentarius Hungaricus lays down the Hungarian Food Code’s regulation on quick-frozen foodstuffs and certain quick-frozen semi-prepared and ready-to-serve meals.
The aim is to ensure that, in addition to EU standards for quick-frozen foodstuffs, in the national legislation consumers are provided with adequate information on the quality of certain quick-frozen semi-prepared and ready-to-serve meals.

9. The regulation in the Codex Alimentarius Hungaricus on quick-frozen foodstuffs and certain quick-frozen semi-prepared and ready-to-serve meals:
- ensures compliance with the Directive of the Council of 21 December 1988 on the approximation of the laws of the Member States relating to quick-frozen foodstuffs for human consumption;
- the product groups “quick-frozen spinach cream” and “quick-frozen flavoured spinach cream”, “quick-frozen pre-fried French fries”, “quick-frozen chestnut preparations”, as well as the product group “quick-frozen pre-cooked galuska” have been defined, together with the quick-frozen products made from potato dough;
- the ingredients that may be used, the quality and organoleptic characteristics, the labelling concerning the designation of the products and the recommended production technology description have been specified and clarified for each product group.
