6. Fermented beverages with Combined Nomenclature tariff heading 22.06 such as cider, perry, mead, etc., are alcoholic drinks, with a low proof, which are obtained from the alcoholic fermentation of various fruits, berries, honey, etc.

This State General Laboratory Decision relates to the production and sale of fermented beverages with Combined Nomenclature tariff heading 22.06 - Amendment of Ministry of Finance Decision No ΔΕΦΚΦ Β 5026381 ΕΞ 2015/16.12.2015 (Government Gazette 2785/B). This decision lays down the terms and conditions to be met by fermented beverages with Combined Nomenclature tariff heading 22.06 produced in Greece and those coming from abroad in order to be released for consumption, the raw and auxiliary materials used in producing them, the permissible and impermissible practices and additives used in producing them, and the terms and conditions to be met by the specific plants where these products are made.

There is no special (national) legislative framework for these products (fermented beverages with Combined Nomenclature tariff heading 22.06) nor is there is any harmonised (EU) legislation, only national provisions in various Member States which differ significantly from each other in terms of definitions and specifications, as well as the processes and additives permitted in making these products.
